Description
The “Union of Women’s Associations of Heraklion Prefecture” was founded in 2000 as a Non-Profit Association with the aim of organizing the implementation of actions for the protection of Women’s rights, the protection of equality, the defense of women who suffer discrimination, the confrontation of domestic partner violence in any form, and the confrontation of gender-based violence of all forms and kinds.
It is a Certified Social Care Service Provider. Its main activities can be summarized as follows:
- Counseling Center for Women, Vulnerable Social Groups and Children
- Free SOS Helpline for victims of domestic violence, on a 24-hour basis
- Shelter for victims of domestic violence (Guesthouse)
- Organizes informative and educational interventions for children, adolescents, adults and professionals
